There’s nothing more modern than inventing new purposes for classic pieces, and that becomes most apparent when starting with a lovely brooch.
Especially what said brooch dons a fabulous gemstone at its core and instantly becomes a centrepiece.
With the one-of-a-kind Tanzanite Bow Brooch in mind, we’re going to look at three modern ways to wear a brooch depending on the occasion and time of day.
#1: On your hat for irreverent styling
Pinning you favourite brooch on a hat may not be the most intuitive placement of all, but it can be of maximum effect. If your hat is made of soft fabrics (like wool felt) and is fairly bendable, it can accommodate a brooch with no repercussions. For example, you can adorn your favourite beret with one, two or even three matching brooches to suit your mood and style. Have fun with it!
#2: Over your casual evening wear
No need to leave your brooch in your jewellery box if you’re dressing for the evening! Rewearing and remixing your jewellery for every occasion is part of the charm, so if your brooch has the potential to look great on your favourite evening top, don’t hesitate to do it justice.
To add a little bit of contrast in the way you style your clothes and accessories, you might want to try pairing a brooch with a crop top, off-the-shoulder pieces and high-waisted skirts or trousers.
#3: On your scarf, your gloves or even your bag!
The great thing about brooches is that they have a pin which makes them uniquely positioned to spruce up surfaces that aren’t necessarily expected or even levelled! You can pin your favourites to your gloves (on the wrist area) for a fun bit of shine, to your scarf (especially if you use it in your hair) or even to the handles of your bag.
Remember to consider the materials, as some are more delicate than others. To test before you pin, choose a concealed part of the object and see if the fabric punctures or neatly wraps back around the piercing, making it disappear.
